Not my MIL, but cute all the same.
So this past week I had an email for a local Amazon deal for the Rusty Wallace Driving Experience at the Stockton 99 Raceway. It was for driving or ride alongs, with the 3-lap ride along for the low price of $49. Now, my MIL is HUGE fan of Nascar, and we have talked about getting her a ride along package for some time now, and this one was just way too good to pass up. However, there were some concerns about crawling in and out of the window of the car, because my MIL is part bionic woman and has all sorts of plates and screws and hardware attached to various joints in her back and shoulder. Instead of just surprising her, my husband decided to run it by her first to see if she thought it was a good idea.
Oh my, was she ever excited and wanted to do it right away. But again, she had the same concerns we had about her maneuverability in and out of the car window. Her solution? She got out a step stool and practiced getting in the window of her own car, a first generation Prius. She decided it was doable, and the ride along was booked. One for her and one for my husband. After all, it’s one of those gifts that so good you have to get a second one for yourself.
They’re treating this as an experiment, and if all goes well with the ride along they are setting their sights higher, maybe Fontana or Sonoma. We’ve fed the speed demon and now it wants more!
How awesome, I can see Joan doing that now, what a gift for both of them.
Having seen Kevan’s face when he drove one of those cars made the gift more special than any he had ever received.
