When I was a kid and we would have Christmas parties at school, which always included a gift exchange. My mom was always the BEST at wrapping presents, and whatever I brought for those gift exchanges became the most coveted gift under the tree all because of her creative wrapping. That included me. I was always a trifle sad that I wouldn’t be the one to get my own gift.
Today, the Hobbit has a book exchange at school. Hopefully I’m carrying on the tradition my mom started. The bow made from dictionary pages (awesome tutorial here) and the oval bookmark is made from a damaged copy of Jan Brett’s book, The Hat. (Jan Brett’s books are so beautifully illustrated you don’t even need to be able to read to enjoy them.) The gem of a book inside all that fancy wrapping is Little Porcupine’s Christmas by Joseph Slate and illustrated by Felicia Bond. You may not be able to judge a book by its cover, but you sure can lure people in with it!
